Shaunese Dumas, LMHC
Taking the first step toward therapy is an act of courage—and sometimes defiance. In a world that rewards constant productivity and self-sacrifice, choosing yourself is powerful. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, disconnected, or stuck, you’re not alone. This is a space to pause, breathe, and begin again.
My own healing journey through therapy is what led me to become a therapist. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to sit across from someone new, hoping to be seen, understood, and supported. Because of that, I approach therapy with deep respect for your courage and your story.
I view therapy as a collaborative process. I don’t position myself as the expert on your life—you are. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you identify patterns, navigate stuck points, and build the insight and skills needed to create meaningful change. My goal is to support you in reconnecting with your inner peace, confidence, and sense of wholeness—so you’re not just surviving, but truly thriving.
My therapeutic approach
My approach is trauma-informed and culturally responsive, integrating nervous system regulation with cognitive awareness. In our work together, you can expect compassion, honest feedback, accountability, and practical tools you can apply in everyday life.
With over 11 years of experience across community mental health, crisis response, in-home treatment, and group practice settings, I bring a grounded, relational approach shaped by my background in storytelling, ministry, and nonprofit work. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, I’m honored to walk alongside you.
